IPL Laser

The IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) laser is not exactly a ‘laser’, but a technology that uses intense pulsed light emissions of broad spectrum light. In terms of its power:

Is IPL low power?

  • Compared to ‘regular’ lasers (e.g. Alexandrite, Diode), IPL is generally considered less powerful and less targeted.
  • This does not mean that it is powerless or ineffective - just that the energy used is more ‘spread out’ and less focused.
  • The intensity of IPL can be adjusted, so it's not always low - it depends on the device and application.

Where is it used?

  • Waxing
  • Treating spider veins, rosacea, hyperpigmentation
  • Skin regeneration

Summary:

IPL can be considered less powerful and less targeted than a laser, but not necessarily ‘low power’. It is simply a different technology, with more diffused energy, offering gentler and safer results for specific situations.
